Unbelievably, the end of term is rapidly approaching! It’s been a busy season and the students have worked hard on a variety of skills – which they’d now like the opportunity to show off!! On the last session of term (17th July) we will be having our final presentation. It is a very informal affair, held in the drama studio from 3.30-4.15 (ish!), it’s FREE (!!) and gives family and friends the opportunity to come along and see what we do on a Saturday afternoon! We will ask that the Senior group arrive at 1pm instead of 2pm that week so we can all work together on the final rehearsal and all students will be released for the holidays at the end of the performance. If anyone has any problems with this arrangement, please do not hesitate to contact us at the office (01273 560 713). We hope to see you all there…!

Last Week…
July 5th, 2010Jane Lesley was our guest tutor this week and she came in specifically to work with the students on their rehearsed readings for our final presentation. The Juniors had a 2nd read through of ‘A Birthday Surprise’, which we then cast; and then, after a bit of editing, we ‘blocked’ most of the play. The Seniors decided to work on a small section of ‘Sunday Morning at the Centre of the World’ rather than try to tackle the whole piece and devised a very strong, stylised openeing to what is quite a challenging play. We also looked at ‘believability’ in performance by doing the exercise ‘Who’s Telling The Truth?’; where the audience hears 3 different tellings of the same event and has to work who the story belonged to originally and who’s acting!

Last Week…
July 3rd, 2010Last week, James Pegg brought us a session on Sound and Shape and how these things can be used to create ‘visual theatre’. We created shapes from sounds and sounds from shapes and explored what body shape & language can communicate to an audience. The Juniors experimented with some vocal tennis and created shape and movements from words and phrases; whilst the Seniors used body shape and language to devise some visual scenes around things that they could see but the audience could not! We also devised 4 scenes entilted ‘Looking Up’ and ‘Looking Down’…
